Sissons has two Fenced, Floodlit Arenas – The Volkswagen Commercial Main Arena is 60m x 45m,
this is used for Show Jumping, Working Hunter and Dressage Competitions (enabling two Dressage
Classes to be run at the same time).
The Main Arena also has a raised Commentator/Show Jumping Judge
viewing box
giving the Judge a view of the whole arena, this comes complete with PA and Timing equipment.
Two Dressage Judges boxes complete with light and heat are situated at the end of the Main Arena
and can comfortably seat 3/4 persons,
giving the flexibility of having Practice Judges sitting in whilst a competition is taking
place.
The Warm-up Arena measures at present 50m x 30m when not being used
for Jumping warm-up purposes it can facilitate a short Arena for “Give it a Go Dressage”.
Both these Arenas have a silica sand and chopped rubber surface and are regularly graded and maintained.
In the warmer months of the year irrigation takes place to keep a perfect riding surface.
Grassed Viewing Area’s are a popular amenity at Sissons and crowds regularly gather
to cheer on their friends or teams. A Mounting Block and Water is also available.
The Cross Country Course is available for hire at certain times of the year under a BHS qualified instructor.
Two Courses run alongside each other with a vast array of fences, including Water,
Coffins, Bench, Hay Rack, Brush, Logs, Fan, Tyres and Bank to name but a few.
The Novice course is at a height not exceeding 2’9”
and the Intermediate not exceeding 3’6” and is 1½ miles in length.
The toilet facilities are “clean” semi permanent with flush loos and running water
with soft paper, soap and mirrors.
Hacking in and around Sissons is also a pleasure as there are plenty of off road
routes available.
