Sissons Eventer Trial Challenge - 2nd Round 29th August - Click here for schedule

Sissons 1st Eventer Trial - 23rd May

With Temperatures reaching 30deg riders turned up for Sissons 1st Eventer Trials in which they had 6 show jumps and a timed round of 6 - 8 WH/XCC fences to complete in the Main Arena. Real water was included from 2'6" and there was an alternative, but 3" higher than the class height but also very narrow. There were a few spills in the the first class, but at least they were able to have a go, so Well Done to all who tried! Competitors really enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to the next round on 29th August; we have also added a further date in the Winter being the 21st November, which will be the final. As well as being an individual competition each round counts towards the Accumulator and the winners of each class will receive a Trophy.

Sissons Showing Show - 25th July 2010
Qualifiers for Equifest, Ex Race Horses and Royal London Show 2010

Overall Champion Ridden: Fosterhouses Philanderer – Mel Glover
Reserve: Dunsmore Glenfiddich – Annette Perry
Overall Champion In Hand: Uptown Girl – Debbie Howlett
Reserve: Macedonio-MAC – Kieron Owens

Yet again, the Summer sunshine bought out high numbers of competitors and spectators alike to the Sissons Showing Show on Sunday.

Many of the competitors were new to Sissons and some even new to Showing - this being their first time - but with the help of our Judge Mr Wayne Bailey, ably assisted by our Stewards, competitors were made to feel at ease and nerves banished.

There were a number of new classes added, including Rare and Foreign Breeds In Hand and Ridden Veteran; several classes were Equifest and Royal London qualifiers as well as the Ex Racers. A number of the classes were split to give competitors that special 'winning feeling' including the Young Stock class which had record entries!

Running concurrently in Ring 2 were the Fun Classes, kindly Judged by Miss Julie Smith, assisted by mum Mrs Linda Smith as Steward. There was a hive of activity in the ring with people of all ages taking part and having fun.

A great day was had by competitors and spectators alike and many congratulations to all our Winners and qualifiers. Click here for full list of winners.

. . . . see you in May 2011

Give it a Go 18th July

Although entries were down all those who came for the competition were there to "Give it a Go" and went away happy with comments and encouragement from the Judge (Gill Gilson) to work on. Lauren Dolby with her new horse Tiesto did his first ever tests and came out top, so I'm sure we shall be seeing more of him in future dressage competitions. Several youngsters venturing out for the first time came away with Special Rosettes for their achievements and will hopefully go on to bigger and better things. Well Done to all our competitors! Click here for results.....

Its always the first step that is the most daunting but with our Steward Heather Harwood on hand encouraging the rider and making sure that they know what they are doing, checking the tack etc it helps to calm those nerves and also enjoy the moment!

Competition Training 1' - 1'9" Max-

You will notice a new section replacing Clear Round for some events - namely Competition Training at a height of 1' - 1'9" max for Absolute Beginners - or Bottom Hole Jumping - It will run for 1 hour only and Riders will be allowed a max of 2 Refusals at a jump with a total maximum of 6 Refusals per round, which will then result in elimination. Riders may be accompanied. Riders will then only be able to enter the Absolute Novice Class at 2'3". New Rules on Back Page of schedule. Let Ann know what you think.

This class is intended to increase the confidence of new riders or horses/ponies new to jumping and as such will be restricted to riders that fall into this category. Anybody who blatantly contradicts the sprit of this Class will be banned from competing for the rest of the day.

British Dressage Class Tickets!

Please note: British Dressage Class Tickets can now be obtained from Sissons Farm - just speak to Ann - £6 each. No more waiting for BD to send them through the post.

Clear Round Rules

We have introduced some new rules to make it fairer for all riders. We have taken this action to avoid unnecessary delays – but on some Sundays the Clear Round will be run separately in part of the Warm Up Arena – so more time will be allowed.

Clear Round is not to be used as a Schooling Session. A max of 5 refusals (total) or a time of 3 minutes will be allowed, per rider. Riders must leave the Arena after 5 refusals or 3 mins.

A max of 20 tickets will be sold, (1 ticket per Horse) in the first instance– from the start of the hour – so you could be disappointed if you are not booked in!

Arena Hire & Schooling Sessions

If you would like to have a schooling session - see Ann to book the Arena – its only £15 for the first horse for one hour (which equates to 20 Clear Rounds!)
