Eventer Trail - 9th September
The weather was hot and although we did not have the numbers we would have liked, everyone had a good time. Peter Stowe was there to help the more Novice riders get over any jumps with which they had a problem in their competitive round, so most went home with a smile on their face!!
Class 3 (2'6") was generously sponsored by Coral Herbert - who is sponsored by Smeeth Saddlery of Roman Bank Wisbech and Roman Bank Eventing - Holly Hetherington on Penelope Pitstop was the winner of this Class in a time of 52.79, with a Double Clear; along with her prize money she also received a numnah from the sponsor. In 2nd place Holly on her other pony Ginny, 3rd was Charlotte Pell on Maiden Adventure, 4th Jackie Pell on Bobby's Girl, 5th was Mark Hawkes on Divines Loss and 6th place went to Lisa McConnell. So well done to all our competitors and thank you to our sponsors Smeeth Saddlery and Roman Bank Eventing.
The Eventer Course is available for hire up to the 23rd September, give Ann a ring should you want to book it.

Fabulous new training series created by Sisson's and Dressage Coaching UK's Julie Frizzell. By joining forces, Sissons and DCUK are able to offer fabulous training, with professional coaching, guidance and support at a sensible and affordable price, making top class training affordable for all. We are thrilled to kick the new Stride4Perfection series off with a Competition Workshop on Wed 12 September.
The workshop is perfect for anyone who is either wanting to start (or re-start) competing, at Intro, Prelim or Novice, OR for those who've had a go and want to improve (and maybe even enjoy it too!).
So what's included on the Workshop?
10am: Welcome brief in the Sizzler Cafe with refreshments
Top Tips for an Effective Warm Up
Allocate times for everyone's morning and afternoon test riding
Test riding: ride the test of your choice in 'test conditions', I'll make informal notes.
Team members are encouraged to support each other with help in the warm up, reading tests etc.
Please bring a packed lunch (or lunch can be purchased at the Sizzler Cafe) and during
the lunch break, we'll do individual debriefs (and you'll have a written copy of the tips to improve).
After lunch, test riding ride the same test, but this time with (if you want) help
and coaching through the test, to help you get the very best out of the experience.
We guarantee you'll have fun, share the day with like-minded people and, above all,
get a great deal out of it to help both you and your horse to start climbing the
competition ladder.
Places are limited to 8 on this popular workshop so please book early. To book a
place, please email Julie@dressagecoaching.co.uk or text your email address to

A few of you already know that son, Ben has married his sweetheart and the wedding was held at home. So Nick picked up the "loos" on the teleporter and moved them over to the paddock for the occasion, therefore the "girls" in the yard lost their facilities. Very soon after Nick picked them up again and they moved to a friends farm for his daughter's 21st; we then found this poem on our Livery Notice Board:
Dear Nick
Could we have our bogs back
I often need a wee
I find it quite undignified
To go behind a tree.
To see the full moon rising
is not a pleasant sight
To see an arse peep through the grass
could give a horse a fright.
So come on Nick, please be quick
and don't ignore these rants
I'm sure you wouldn't want the job
of washing out my pants!!!
Needless to say the "loos" have now safely returned to their permanent home and peace has been restored to Sissons!!

Competition Training 1' - 1'9" Max-
You will notice a new section replacing Clear Round for some events -
namely Competition Training at a height of 1' - 1'9" max for Absolute
Beginners - or Bottom Hole Jumping - It will run for 1 hour only and
Riders will be allowed a max of 2 Refusals at a jump with a total
maximum of 6 Refusals per round, which will then result in elimination.
Riders may be accompanied. Riders will then only be able to enter the
Absolute Novice Class at 2'3". New Rules on Back Page of schedule.
Let Ann know what you think.
This class is intended to increase the confidence of new riders or
horses/ponies new to jumping and as such will be restricted to riders
that fall into this category. Anybody who blatantly contradicts
the sprit of this Class will be banned from competing for the rest
of the day.
British Dressage Class Tickets!
Please note: British Dressage Class Tickets can now be obtained from
Sissons Farm - just speak to Ann - £7 each. No more waiting for BD to
send them through the post.
Clear Round Rules
We have introduced some new rules to make it fairer for all riders. We have taken this action to avoid
unnecessary delays but on some Sundays the Clear Round will be run separately in part of the Warm Up Arena
so more time will be allowed.
Clear Round is not to be used as a Schooling Session.
A max of 5 refusals (total) or a time of 3 minutes will be allowed, per
rider. Riders must leave the Arena after 5 refusals or 3 mins.
A max of 20 tickets will be sold, (1 ticket per Horse) in the first
instance from the start of the hour so you could be disappointed
if you are not booked in!
Arena Hire & Schooling Sessions
If you would like to have a schooling session - see Ann to book the Arena
its only £15 for the first horse for one hour (which equates to 20 Clear Rounds!)
